Our second meeting

I have learned so much since starting this class! What I took away from class were more simple and helpful writing techniques, this is probably because this is where I’m at as a writer. I learned the most about three topics. I learned how to overcome writers block or the hesitation to start writing. I was taught how to make an effective ending. I also learned what makes writing exciting.
To overcome writers block the primary advice is to start with what you know. Professor Benedict gave us examples in his writings where he was crunched for time and so he started with what he knew. He explained that sometimes you keep what you started with or you might move what you wrote later in your work or you might just scratch it and move on. No matter what you do it helps to start with what you know, so that you can get started and start the flow of your writing.
During our meeting we analyzed three chapter endings and we looked at why they were effective. We looked at Tigers life as a child his life as a high schooler and the start of his career. We saw the sad harsh childhood years compared to his hopeful romance in Highschool and even later the opportunity and freedom with the start of his career. Endings are just as important as beginnings you have to provide a meaningful and to have a meaningful beginning.
I also learned that conversation in reading is like action in a movie. It spices the story up. Try to use dialogue to tell a story and people will be able to imagine it better than if you tried describing with words. Especially when trying to show a relationship between characters or people. It is also important to use different perspectives and new voices. Using a different mix of styles of characters and views will create a dynamic feel to your writing.
I am excited to start working on my project more and hope to see it strengthen the esports program.
